![]() Overall, we enjoyed the morning outing at this park. We paid US$10 per person entrance fee as foreign visitors. The park is relatively small - at the time of our visit, the main attractions were 2 lions, 2 tigers, crocodiles, 1 zebra, 2 waterbuck, some jackals and antelope and monkey species. The animals seem well taken care of, most of the animal enclosures are spacious enough, and the handlers were all very kind to the animals and seem to enjoy a good relationship with them - they were very proud of the park. There are some unusual trees and flowers for photo opportunities, albeit the species are limited. We visited with low expectations because we are not usually the type to visit zoos, but the park is very clean and well-kept and it's a beautiful green space to walk in amidst the bustling city. We were pleasantly surprised by our visit to the Lubumbashi Zoo & Botanical Gardens. From Kinshasa, you can have a walk on the Avenue des Nations Unies (check on a map), or eat in a restaurant that has a river view, like Chez Tintin, le Plein Vent or le Mandarin, but remember that to cross the river by boat to Brazzaville is by far the best option to experience it. I advise you to start early morning or one hour and a half before sunset. Foreigners can walk in the streets without being harassed, but there are less things to do than in Kinshasa.įrom that side, you can have a walk from the city centre to the bridge and back. It wasn't easy (traveling is always hard in DRC and around), but it was worthwhile, especially as far as experiencing the river is concerned, since Brazzaville is not what I would call an interesting city. ![]() By far the best way is to cross it to go to Brazzaville. There are many places from where you can experience the river from Kinshasa or near Kinshasa. It isn't a sacred river like the Ganges for example, as far as I know, and it seems that it doesn't move at all, but it is majestic and awe-inspiring. It is the deepest river in the entire world: 80 meters deep here and there, perhaps even more! It is the blood of the country.
